-Inter-ministerial cooperation needed to make India a rabies free nation by 2030: Goel

New Delhi, 28 September 2023. Today on the occasion of World Rabies Day, former Union Minister Vijay Goel, who is spearheading a movement against dog menace, said that we need to spread awareness about rabies among the common public.

He informed that every year more than 20,000 people die due to rabies in India. This, said Goel, accounts for one-third of the global deaths due to rabies.

Goel said that India is lagging behind many smaller countries of South Asia such as Bhutan, Sri Lanka, etc. in tackling the spread of rabies.

Goel argued that recently, the Union Government has drawn a ‘National Action Plan for Dog Mediated Rabies Elimination’ by 2030. However, according to Goel, state governments failed to comply by its directives. We need to work on ground to achieve this target.

Goel emphasised on the necessity of taking up this plan on priority basis with active inter-ministerial co-operation, especially between Ministry of Health and Ministry of Animal Husbandry.

Goel further said that anti-rabies injections are not readily available in all the hospitals in Delhi. There is serious shortage of anti-rabies injections.

According to Goel, it should be binding on the state government to make anti-rabies injections available in all the hospitals.
Further, citing the recent death of a boy in Ghaziabad due to rabies, Goel urged for spreading awareness against this deadly disease.

Goel also said that we need to ensure 100% sterilization of stray dogs and administration of rabies vaccine to both stray as well as pet dogs to make India a rabies free nation.

3. Bijli Adalat will be conducted in different areas of Delhi – Goel

Therefore, Bijli Adalat is trying to solve people's problems.
Hearing the problems of the public, Goel ordered the concerned officer of that department to immediately resolve the issues, so that the public problem can be solved as soon as possible.
Goel said that if the government gives so many subsidies then the bill of these poor people should also be waived off. Those people manage their livelihood with difficulty and the government should also think about them.

Many people said that despite the fact that no commercial activity is taking at their place, bills as per commercial rates are being raised. Some people say that since the time fast meters have been installed they are receiving higher bills.
Goel, along with NDPL officials, listened to the complaints of the public and provided relief to the complainants wherever possible.
Goel said that in future also he will set up Bijli Adalat in different areas of Delhi and the problems of the people will be solved. 3.    UCC will promote gender equality and reduce discrimination based on religion: Vijay Goel

4.    Modi is working for all sections without any discrimination: Goel

New Delhi, July 13, 2023: Gandhi Smriti and Darshan Samiti organized a seminar on “Uniform Civil Code – Need of the Hour?” at Tees January Marg, Gandhi Smriti on July 13, 2023. On this occasion, Governor of Kerala, Arif Mohammad Khan, delivered the keynote address. Former Union Minister and Vice Chairman of Gandhi Smriti, Vijay Goel presided over the function.
In his address, Arif Mohammad Khan stated that the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) is essential for the unity of the country. It is unfortunate that some people are associating it with religion, whereas UCC is not targeting any particular religion. Instead, it advocates equal laws for all citizens of the country.
He mentioned that this law will ensure that when two women approach the court under similar circumstances, the court will not ask about their religion, but rather affirm that equal justice is the right of every citizen.
The Governor of Kerala said that since 2019, there has been a 96% reduction in triple talaq cases among Muslims. This has benefited those women and their children who were earlier distressed. This law has transformed their lives. Similarly, the Uniform Civil Code will also protect the interests of common citizens.
Arif Mohammad Khan stated that India is not a land of revolutions but of transformations. We live with our cultural diversities and celebrate our diversity.
Goel said that opponents of the Uniform Civil Code claim that it would violate religious freedom. However, this law will promote gender equality, reduce discrimination based on religion, and simplify the legal system. The maximum benefit will be received by the minority communities.
Goel said that the need is being felt that there should be equal law for every citizen living in India, irrespective of caste and religion and called for a healthy debate on this issue. He said that the Uniform Civil Code aims to be a secular law.
Goel said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi works without any discrimination. He has worked for the upliftment of minorities, women, and the poor. Whether it is the ban on triple talaq, the Ujjwala scheme, or the Jan Dhan Yojana, these schemes have benefited people of all religions, especially women.
Goel said that change is often met with resistance, but progress demands courage and vision. We must also acknowledge that the implementation of a UCC requires careful consideration and extensive dialogue with all stakeholders, including religious and community leaders. It is essential to address their concerns and find common ground to forge ahead towards a more just and equitable society.
Earlier on his arrival to Gandhi Smriti, Arif Mohammad Khan offered tributes at the Martyr’s Column, the site of the Martyrdom of Mahatma Gandhi.

Goel poses 9 questions to Kejriwal

Statement made by Former Union Minister Vijay Goel in the Press Conference

1.    Goel poses 9 questions to Kejriwal
2.    Kejriwal is deceiving 27.6 lakh consumers of Jal Board in the name of one-time settlement scheme – Goel
3.    Will the money of consumers who have paid wrong bills, be refunded?
4.    Where has Kejriwal's “Future Software” gone, under which the consumer will prepare the bill themselves – Goel

New Delhi, June 17, 2023: Launching a scathing attack on Chief Minister of Delhi Arvind Kejriwal over the one-time settlement policy announcement of water bills for almost 11.7 lakh consumers, former Union Minister Vijay Goel said that the Chief Minister of Delhi is continuously deceiving and misguiding the people of Delhi regarding water bills. Goel said that the government has no control over the Jal Board. There is huge corruption in it and now to hide the corruption, this one-time settlement scheme is being introduced on water bills.
Goel said that nothing has been finalized about this scheme yet and the Chief Minister has announced it without thinking, because people's water bills amounting to Rs 3 to 4 lakhs is being charged owing to which a lot of pressure is put on the government.
Goel said that a video of Kejriwal is in the public domain, in which he has been saying since 2016 that there is huge fraud in the bills of 27.6 lakh consumers. It was Kejriwal who had announced in 2016 that he would make a “Future Software”, in which consumers would be able to take meter readings from their mobile itself and generate the bill themselves, which will prevent wrong meter reading. Where has the “Future Software” of the Chief Minister disappeared, questioned Goel?
Kejriwal has himself admitted that due to corruption in Jal Board, bills have been generated by taking false readings. Moreover, the consumers are being threatened that if they do not pay the bills according to the new readings within three (3) months then they will have to pay the bills with wrong readings.
Goel also posed 9 questions to Arvind Kejriwal:
1.    Thousands of consumers who have paid all the old bills on the basis of wrong meter readings, will their bills be rectified and the amount be refunded?

2.    So far, how many crores of rupees have been deposited by how many consumers on the basis of wrong bills?

3.    The Chief Minister has accepted that the bills of 95 percent people are wrong, in which the meter reader is at fault and bribe has also been sought in this. What action will be taken against these corrupt meter readers?

4.    Officials of Jal Board say that no plan is final yet, so on what basis has the Chief Minister made this announcement?

5.    The Chief Minister said in a video that due to Covid, wrong bills have been made. There was no Covid in 2016, then why corruption continued, the Chief Minister should tell?

6.    The Chief Minister is saying that it will take 100 years to rectify these bills, then how will they be rectified so soon, which could not be rectified in the last 8 years?

7.    Where is the ‘Future Software’ announced by Kejriwal in 2016, in which the consumers are allowed to generate the correct bill by taking the meter reading from the mobile itself?

8.    Who will verify the readings of the new bills and whether there will be any court to settle the disputes arising in it?

9.    Will bills be generated also for the areas where people complain that dirty water is coming in the entire colony?
