The Hindu- Union Ministers burn ‘monstrous holika’ of corruption charges
Union Ministers Vijay Goel, Prakash Javadekar and Vijay Sampla burnt what they called the “monstrous holika” of corruption charges levelled by AAP and the Congress against each other, at Mr. Goel’s residence here on Wednesday.
Mr. Kejriwal, Mr. Goel argued, had come to power on the plank of Congress’ corruption but today was “eager” to forge an alliance with that party.
“Mr. Kejriwal has forgotten that he had promised to throw Sheila Dikshit behind the bars for corruption… he had even called her a ‘dalal’ [middleman] for power companies, besides alleging that she was involved in commonwealth games and water tank scam,” he said.
“On the other side, the Congress, whether led by Ajay Maken or Sheila Dikshit, has been accusing Mr. Kejriwal of indulging in corruption naming the CCTV camera scam, the low-floor bus scam and ration card scam,” Mr. Goel said further.
The Union Minister said it was “necessary” to burn the charges of corruption by the two parties against each other on Holi because Mr. Kejriwal had “failed to bring development” to the Capital in the past four years and a vote for him in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls would hence “be a wasted vote”.
HRD Minister Prakash Javdekar said that people had high hopes from Mr. Kejriwal when AAP came to power. “Mr. Kejriwal has forgotten that he has not won even a single election after his victory in the Delhi Assembly polls,” he said.
‘Synonyms of corruption’
Union Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment, Vijay Sampla, accused Mr. Kejriwal of not implementing schemes such as Aayushman Bharat and Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana and depriving the people of Delhi from their benefits. “Mr. Kejriwal and Congress have become the synonyms of corruption,” he alleged.
Business Standard- Cong, AAP were mired in corruption when in power, claims Vijay Goel
BJP leader and former Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs Vijay Goel claimed that Congress and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) had a "long list of corruption charges" against them while they were in power.
Speaking to ANI on Wednesday, Goel said that an alliance between Congress and AAP in Delhi to contest the upcoming Lok Sabha polls, if formed, would not be of relevance to the BJP.
"The list of corruption done by both these parties (Congress and AAP) is very long whenever they have come to power. Arvind Kejriwal formed AAP to counter Sheila Dikshit government's corruption. Today, the same AAP is trying to form an alliance with the Congress. Their alliance does not matter to the BJP. BJP will win all the seven seats in Delhi. The entire nation is behind the Prime Minister," he said.
On Tuesday, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had rubbished reports of AAP and Congress holding talks regarding an alliance. "Congress has officially conveyed to us that there will be no alliance. We are not in talks with the Congress party. Media reports about talks between AAP and Congress have been planted by the Congress," he claimed.
Earlier this week, sources said Delhi Congress chief Sheila Dikshit wrote to party chief Rahul Gandhi and his mother Sonia Gandhi stating that an alliance with AAP would "harm" the party's image in the long run.
There are 7 Lok Sabha seats at stake in Delhi, polling for which will be held on May 12. Counting of votes will take place on May 23.
India Tribune- BJP ministers organize Holika Dahan, say it symbolizes burning of evil of ‘corruption of Cong, AAP’
Union ministers Vijay Goel, Prakash Javdekar and Vijay Sampla organized a ‘Holika Dahan’, saying it symbolizes the burning of evil of “corruption of the Congress and the AAP”.
Goel said Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal came to power on the plank of Congress’s corruption but today his Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is eager to forge an alliance with it.
The Union Minister said that in 2013, Kejriwal vowed that he would put former chief minister Sheila Dikshit behind bars within 24 hours of getting elected, alleging she was “smeared with colors of corruption” related to Commonwealth Games, water tankers scam among others.
“Today he has forgotten that he had promised to throw Sheila Dikshit behind bars for corruption. So will he withdraw corruption charges against Dikshit if unholy alliance is formed? On the other side, the Congress, be it led by Ajay Maken or Dikshit, has been accusing Kejriwal of indulging in corruption like CCTV camera scam, low-floor bus scam and ration card scam are prominent among them.
“Now both are trying to form an alliance and this only shows how opportunist both these parties are,” Goel said, adding Kejriwal has failed to bring development in Delhi in the past four years and vote to him in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls would be a waste.
Union Minister of Human Resource Development Prakash Javdekar said that people had high hopes from Kejriwal when the Aam Aadmi Party came to power but he has failed the people of Delhi.
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been working tirelessly for the people of this country, and the people of Delhi too would have benefitted had Kejriwal not adopted confrontational behavior,” he said.
Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Vijay Sampla said that Kejriwal did not implement various schemes such as Ayushman Bharat and Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana because of which the people of Delhi are not able to avail the benefits of the schemes.
“Kejriwal and Congress both have become the synonyms of corruption,” he said.
Days after having unanimously decided to go it alone in Delhi, the Congress is again mulling options to align with the Aam Aadmi Party in the national capital, with NCP leader Sharad Pawar actively involved in getting the two parties together.
Dikshit has earlier made it clear that aligning with AAP will not be in the party’s interests keeping in view the assembly election in the national capital slated for next year.
Business Standard- Will Kejriwal withdraw corruption charges against Dikshit if unholy alliance is formed: Goel
With the Congress again mulling a tie up with the AAP in Delhi, Union Minister Vijay Goel Tuesday sought to corner both the parties asking if Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will withdraw charges of corruption against Sheila Dikshit or will the Delhi Congress chief resign from her position.
Goel said in case an alliance is formed between the Congress and Aam Aadmi Party, Dikshit should either tender her resignation or accept the serious charges of corruption levelled by Kejriwal against her.
The Union Minister said in 2013, Kejriwal vowed that he will put Sheila Dikshit behind bars within 24 hours of getting elected alleging she is "smeared with colours of corruption" related to commonwealth games, water tankers scam among others.
"It is ironical that Sheila Dikshit herself is the Delhi Pradesh Congress President and under her leadership this unholy alliance is getting formed.
"I wanted to ask whether Kejriwal will withdraw his serious charges of corruption against her or will she resign from her position," Goel said.
Days after having unanimously decided to go it alone in Delhi, the Congress is again mulling options to align with the Aam Aadmi Party in the national capital, with NCP leader Sharad Pawar actively involved in getting the two parties together.
Goel said he will light a fire against the "corruption of Congress and AAP" on the eve of Holi on March 19.
Dikshit, has earlier made it clear that aligning with AAP will not be in the party's interests keeping in view the assembly election in the national capital slated later.
However, AICC general secretary in-charge of Delhi Congress, PC Chacko, said: "I am in consultation with Congress party leaders in Delhi on the possibilities of forging an alliance with AAP.
"The Congress Working Committee has decided to align with like-minded parties across the country to defeat the BJP in Lok Sabha elections.
"I hope Delhi Congress leaders also go by this sentiment and decide on an alliance with AAP, but a final decision will be taken by the Congress president very soon," Chacko told PTI.
Shiela Dikshit should either resign or admit to the charges of corruption levelled by Kejriwal- Goel
On the issue of alliance between Congress and AAP, Minister of State and former BJP State President Shri Vijay Goel commented that in case the alliance is formed, Congress Delhi state President and Former CM Smt Shiela Dikshit should either tender her resignation or accept the serious charges of corruption levelled by her alliance partner Shri Arvind Kejriwal.
Goel reminded that in 2013, Kejriwal vowed that he will put Shiela Dikshit behind bars within 24 hours of getting elected since she is smeared with colours of corruption related to Commonwealth Games, water tankers scam etc. Goel reminded that Kejriwal had filed an FIR of 370 pages registered against her at the Parliament Street Police Station.
Goel told that it is ironical that Shiela Dikshit herself is the Delhi Pradesh Congress President and in her Leadership itself this unholy alliance is getting formed. He wanted to know whether Kejriwal will withdraw his serious charges of corruption against Shiela Dikshit or she will resign from her position.
Goel told that 95 percent of Congress grassroot workers do not want any alliance with AAP because they think that AAP is more corrupt than Congress. Some Senior Congress leader has commented that both AAP and Congress are corrupt so what? why BJP is concerned?.
Goel said that he will light the Holi of corruption of AAP and Congress tomorrow outside his residence.
Hindustan Time- AAP, Congress desperate to join hands in lust for power: Vijay Goel
Union minister Vijay Goel on Sunday staged a protest at the Jantar Mantar to “caution” people against the “falsehood” being spread by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Congress.
Goel said that the two parties, in the past, were involved in trading corruption barbs at each other, but are now desperate to join hands to win the Lok Sabha seats in Delhi.
South Delhi member of Parliament (MP) Ramesh Bidhuri, West Delhi MP Pravesh Varma, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) legislators Om Prakash Sharma, Jagdish Pradhan and Manjinder Singh Sirsa also took part in the protest.
The AAP and the Congress in Delhi have been in talks of a possible seat-sharing arrangement, but the deal is yet to be finalised. The final call on the alliance, however, will be taken by Congress chief Rahul Gandhi in the coming days.
“The AAP and the Congress are trying to forge an unholy alliance in their lust for power. It is fate that the Delhi Congress president is now Sheila Dikshit, who was promised to be sent to jail on corruption charges by Arvind Kejriwal. These two parties think that the Delhi public is ignorant, as if the public does not understand their tactics,” Goel said during the protest.
The BJP leader also said that former Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) chief Ajay Maken, who accused half the ministers and MLAs of the AAP government of corruption and opposed an alliance with the AAP, has also started changing his views.
Two billboards were put up at the protest site — one reflecting the accusations of the Congress against the AAP and the other highlighting the allegations of the AAP against the Congress.
Delhi Congress spokesperson Jitender Kochar said that they have never shown any interest in an alliance with the AAP.
“The AAP leaders are announcing an alliance and dissolving it too. We have stuck to our stand that we do not want any seat-sharing arrangement with them. The AAP and the BJP is trying to gain mileage from this,” Kochar said.
Saurabh Bharadwaj, AAP’s national spokesperson, said, “Aam Aadmi Party feels blessed that Vijay Goel and Sheila Dikshit are back in Delhi politics. They make it an interesting and entertaining contest for Delhiites to chose among Dikshit, Vijay Goel and Arvind Kejriwal. They themselves know who represents the voice of Delhi. Vijay Goel has forgotten that it’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi who snatched the ACB from Kejriwal government. Goel declares MCD is ‘chor’ but is too helpless despite being a central minister. This explains all.”
The Hindu- AAP and Congress trying to forge unholy alliance, says BJP leader
Staging a dharna at Jantar Mantar on Sunday to “caution” the people of Delhi against the “falsehoods” being spread by the Aam Aadmi Party and the Congress, Union Minister and former Delhi BJP president Vijay Goel said that both the “corrupt” parties were trying to forge an “unholy alliance” in their “lust for power”.
“We can all imagine what will happen in Delhi if in their craving for power these two corrupt parties [AAP and Congress] join hands in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections and the Delhi Assembly elections scheduled to be held in the latter part of the year. These two parties were involved in trading corruption barbs at each other and are now desperate to join hands to win two seats in Delhi,” Mr. Goel said.
“Rahul Gandhi has forgotten the insult of his late father Rajiv Gandhi meted out by AAP on the floor of the Delhi Assembly by passing a resolution of stripping former Pime Minister Rajiv Gandhi of the Bharat Ratna,” said Mr. Goel. He also said that he wondered how Delhi Congress president Sheila Dikshit, who was promised to be sent to jail on corruption charges by Arvind Kejriwal, could forget that insult so quickly.
