Rural villages in Delhi should get relief from building bye-laws

A delegation of BJP MLAs led by Delhi BJP President, Shri Vijay Goel met Union Urban Development Minister Shri Kamal Nath on Tuesday and demanded that 100 regularised colonies and villages falling in the Badarpur and other assembly constituencies should be taken out from the “O’’ zone category to allow the local residents to carry out repair/construction in their houses as per building bye laws.
The delegation led by Shri Goel brought to the notice of Mr. Kamal Nath that due to application of “O’ zone in these colonies and villages, no developmental activity including construction of Hospitals, Dispensaries, Community Centres, and Schools can be being carried out even on the gram sabha land due to ban on construction activity in those areas which fall under “O’’ zone. This is highly discriminatory with lakhs of residents living in these colonies and villages and justice needs to be done with them without any further delay.

On this occasion, this was pointed out that these regularised colonies are situated more than 300 meters away from river Yamuna.

The BJP delegation also urged Shri Nath to issue directions to the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) to allocate adequate land in these areas for construction of schools, community centres and hospitals for the facility of the local residents as only DDA is authorized to allocate land.

It was also pointed out that in the rural villages of Delhi, no building bye laws were applicable and it was only on January 17, 2011 that DDA notified the building bye laws for rural villages of Delhi which is unfeasible keeping in mind the fact that there is no clear ownership of land or layout plans prepared for these villages so these rural villages should be exempted from application of building bye laws.

Shri Nath assured the delegation that he would take whatever steps possible to resolve the  issue and would direct the officials concerned to address these issues with immediate effect so that a workable solution could be found.

The delegation included among others MLAs S/Sh. Ramvir Singh Bidhuri, Pawan Sharma, Dharamdev Solanki, Brahm Singh Tanwar, Sat Prakash Rana, Kulwant Rana and Ajeet Singh Kharkhari.

BJP committed to development in rural areas, unauthorised colonies : Vijay Goel

The Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party President Shri Vijay Goel today said the BJP is committed to development in rural areas and unauthorised colonies  which have suffered during 15 years of misrule of Congress in Delhi.

Addressing a protest rally at Janatar Mantar (that was organised by villages that are  part of ‘O’ Zone in Delhi and hence suffering lack of development), Shri Goel said, “Whoever may for the government in Delhi, but BJP will ensure that the interests of Delhi’ites are protected. In fact, it is because of the pressure built by the BJP that today the DISCOMS are being forced to rethink on increasing the power tariff again.”

The rally was led by BJP legislator Shri Rambir Singh Bidhuri who has been championing the cause of thousands of residents living in these villages and areas which fall under ‘O’ Zone.  As these areas are clubbed with the Yamuna riverbed so no construction work in even residential areas is allowed.

Shri  Bidhuri said, “The Delhi Development Authority, the previous Congress government in Delhi and the Urban Development ministry at the Centre have continuously ignored the plight of people living in residential areas in these areas. With no permission to do any kind of construction, there cannot be any development here. ”

Shri Goel said, “There needs to be clarity on every aspect of urban planning in the city.  We need to have mechanism in place where there is continuous review of the existing policies to strike a balance between environment protection and needs of the people. The biggest problem in Delhi is that agencies which take crucial decisions are controlled by the Centre and Congress led UPA government has failed to discharge its duties in this regard.”

Shri Goel said, “The BJP got an overwhelming response from the rural Delhi as well as unauthorised colonies during the recently held assembly polls. This happened because BJP was the first party to hold major conventions and public meetings on issues specifically related to these areas. People have appreciated our efforts and we are going to further expand as well as consolidate in these areas.”

Shri Bidhuri said, “The struggle to get the ‘O’ zone tag removed from  the residential areas would continue unless we achieve our objective. No other party has stood with these people who have been affected by such archaic rules as the BJP has.”

Secret deal between Congress and AAP for not probing corruption cases against Congress leaders: Vijay Goel

The Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party President Shri Vijay Goel today announced that the party will be organising its “Abhinandan Rally”’ at Talkatora stadium on 28 December to express its gratitude to Delhi’ites for their support in recenbtly held Delhi Assembly Polls.

“In addition to expressing our gratitude, we would also be reiterating our commitment towards Delhi’ites’ welfare in this rally. The BJP remains committed to the people of Delhi and would continue with its relentless efforts to connect with people Delhi and raise their issues,” said Shri Goel.

Shri Goel said, “We have been witnessing a game of political drama in the recent days where Aam Aadmi Party is indulging in all kinds of tricks and doublespeak over the formation of the government. It has been consistently changing its stands on this issue and has disrespected the democratic institutions and traditions.”

“In the garb of going back to people AAP is actually striking a ‘secret’ deal with Congress Party with whose support it is forming the government.  Under this ‘secret’ deal, AAP has agreed not to open the old cases of corruption against Congress. And in turn Congress has agreed to support the AAP,” said Shri Goel.

“It is unfortunate that an unholy nexus of Congress and AAP has been forged in Delhi despite the fact AAP had vehemently opposed the Congress before polls. No one in either AAP or Congress is ready to explain that despite being opposed to each other, on what conditions they have come together. It is clear that they have ulterior motives,” added Shri Goel.

Shri Goel said, “Both AAP and Congress should come out clean and let Delhi’ites know that what is ‘deal’ between them.  What is happening right now is clearly the case of ‘shadow-boxing’ and BJP would continue to expose it as it has done in the past.”

The BJP has always maintained that AAP is actually B-team of Congress and it has been proven once again with AAP getting support of Congress and then taking an about turn from its earlier stand of not forming the government.

Attempts to scuttle MCDs functioning would not be tolerated: Vijay Goel

The Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party President Shri Vijay Goel today announced that the three municipal corporations ruled by the BJP in Delhi will not hike any parking rates and house tax rates. The steps are being taken after Shri Goel chaired a meeting of the leaders from the MCDs and discussed measures to make MCDs more and more people friendly and transparent.

Addressing a press conference today along with senior leaders of the MCDs, Shri Goel said, “A new rationalised policy for farmhouses converted into motels, hotels and banquet halls is on anvil. This would be displayed online so there is no ambiguity.”

Shri Goel outlined the following steps being taken by the MCDs to provide clean and people-friendly administration:

  • 64 items including booking of community halls have been listed online for which bookings can be done online and payments can be made.
  • All payments to contractors are now given through Electronic Clearance Scheme(ECS)
  • Salaries of all MCD employees are paid through ECS.
  • Property tax on heritage sites would be waived off.
  • Rebate on property tax for aided schools.
  • To ensure that councillor fund can be spent on unauthorised colonies, delegation of BJP leaders would meet the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi and other authorities concerned in Delhi government.
  • All levies and taxes are being rationalised and being displayed online. Many of them can be paid online, it is being ensured that Delhi’ites should have the option of paying all their charges to MCD online while sitting at home.

Shri Goel said, “There have been attempts in the past by Congress government to scuttle various welfare measures to be taken by the MCD.  Funds were not released in time. There is an attempt still going on to thrust certain officials as Commissioners of the MCDs. We would be taking up this issue with the Lieutenant Governor again as we have done in the past. The BJP would resist any attempt to scuttle the working of MCDs as it concerns welfare of lakhs of people.”

“We have discussed ways and means of making MCD more responsive and establish stronger communication network and an interactive mechanism so that people’s feedback can be incorporated in the policy making,” added Shri Goel.

AAP pushed Delhi to polls due to fear of getting exposed: Vijay Goel

The Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party President Shri Vijay Goel today said that the BJP is battle ready for another round of assembly polls even though these polls have been forced upon Delhi by Aam Aadmi Party which refused to form the government due to the fear of getting exposed.

“The BJP did not have the required numbers so we could not form the government. But Congress had given unconditional support to AAP and hence it had numbers but it still did not form the government,” said Shri Goel.

In a statement issued today, Shri Goel informed that a meeting of the Election Core Group for Delhi was held at state BJP headquarters to review the situation and discuss the future strategy.  The meeting was attended among others by Delhi election in-charge Shri Nitin Gadkari and co-incharge Shri Navjot Singh Siddhu.

Shri Gadkari said that BJP has emerged as the single largest party and the first choice of the people of Delhi. The party cadres need to work even harder now to fulfil the aspirations of the Delhi'ites. If elections are held again, BJP will emerge much stronger with a clear majority, added Shri Gadkari

“The party has decided to go back to the people through a three pronged strategy- door to door campaign, public meetings and social media campaign. The BJP cadres  would communicate to the people how AAP’s non-serious approach has forced another election upon Delhi’ites  and how BJP has been fighting against misrule of Congress for the last 15 years and hence it is the most feasible and viable alternative,” said Shri Goel.

“Party cadres and leaders will organise “victory rally (vijay rally) on the assembly seats on which we have won while there will be ‘thanksgiving (aabhar rallies)’ rallies on seats where we have lost,”  he added.

Shri Goel said BJP is going to keep special focus on youth and women. The youth and women wings of the party will be further geared up to meet the challenge of expanding our base further amongst these two sections.

“In addition to these measures, a three member working group is being set up which will visit various assembly segments and assess the performance of various BJP legislators. The BJP legislators have been informed that even though we may not be in power but every opportunity to take up issues of Delhi’ites must be utilised,” he added.

BJP to intensify membership drive, participate in registration of new voters : Vijay Goel

The Delhi BJP President Shri Vijay Goel today announced setting up of task force to monitor the implementation of various steps that need to be taken in Delhi by authorities concerned for the safety of the women. The task force will be headed by Delhi BJP general secretary Smt. Shikha Rai.

Expressing concern over lack of implementation of various steps that were promised to be taken in Delhi in wake of Nirbhaya case, Shri Goel said, “It has been one year since the brutal rape happened and unfortunately  nothing much seems to be happening at the ground level when it comes to implementation of measures required to provide safety for women in the city.”

“There have been no allocations from the Rs. 1000 crore Nirbhaya Fund set up by the UPA government and the number of women personnel in Delhi Police stands at mere 7 per cent. It should be atleast 33% of the police force. There are still several parts of the city which do not have proper lighting provisions and hence they are the danger zones for the women. All DTC buses and auto-rickshaws were to be fitted with GPS but it has not been done. ”

The task force set up the BJP will pursue all these matters with the authorities concerned and build public opinion to put pressure on authorities for speedy implementation of measures required to make city safe for women, said Shri Goel.  He emphasised that there is need to build awareness in the society to respect the women and this could be done by laying greater emphasis on building strong character right from the early days through a better education system.

“Safety and dignity of women are key to any society’s progress and such issues are above any political consideration.  All stakeholders must come together and work towards making our city a safe and dignified place for women. As a responsible and sensitive political party, BJP is giving this issue top priority,” he added.

Core group meeting
Shri Goel also informed that in the BJP’s crore group meeting held yesterday, the party has decided to intensify its membership drive in days to come. The BJP workers will also actively participate in the process of registration of new voters.

“Our target is to expand our base and reach every home through door to door contact programme and communicate our policies, programmes and future vision for Delhi. The party cadres are fully geared up and we would be mobilising them at the grassroots level over the next few weeks,” said Shri Goel.

He further added, “If Aam Aadmi party does not form the government now, the only reason would be that it is scared of getting exposed as it is unsure of fulfilling the promises made by it to people. Otherwise after getting unconditional support from Congress, it has the numbers and there can be no other reason for not forming the government.”

Aam Admi Party’s political arrogance is making mockery of democratic processes: Vijay Goel

The Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party President Sh. Vijay Goel today said that AAP does not seem to be working with serious intent  of forming the government as it will not be able to fulfil the promises made in its manifesto. And hence it is scared of being exposed. There are apparent contradictions in its stand as on one hand AAP leaders are criticising other political parties and then it is writing letters to them about support in forming the government.

It is unfortunate that AAP has turned the process of government formation into a political drama. The formation of government is a serious process and it should not be used for petty political gains. All of us have witnessed that how despite an offer of unconditional support from Congress; AAP is deliberately delaying to clear its stand on this issue.

Incidentally, these are the same leaders who had taken oath on their children that they will not have anything to do with wither BJP or Congress and now these are the same leaders who are opening window of negotiations.  This is a clear case of doublespeak. “I would like AAP to clear its stand for once and all that whether it is forming the government in Delhi or not. It has no right to humiliate the Delhi residents with such brazen show of political arrogance that makes mockery of democratic processes.”

“As the BJP was short of majority and was not supported by any other party so we went and without any creating any hype or hoopla told the LG that the BJP will sit in opposition as it is not in a position to form the government.  If AAP wants to form the government, there is no need of staging such political drama and setting conditions as Congress has already offered them unconditional support,” Sh. Goel said.

“The BJP is the single largest party and the first choice of the people in Delhi and yet like always it has shown humility in accepting the verdict of the voters. But AAP, unfortunately, has failed to respect the aspirations of common people. It has frequently changed stands in the last few days.  Some of them said, they will not form government after December 8.  A senior AAP leader said they will support BJP with common minimum programme but changed his stand within next few hours. Then the senior leaders of AAP said they will not form the government till December 12. On December 13, their leaders said that all options are open. On December 13 again, AAP said they will not form the government and on December 14 after meeting with the LG, Sh. Arvind Kejriwal opened windows of negotiations with Congress.

“The rapidly changing stands of AAP are a clear  indication that AAP leaders are  running away from  honouring their commitment and promises made to the people of Delhi. The most unfortunate part is that in this process they are also hurting the democratic traditions of the country. This should be stopped immediately and AAP should clearly come out with its stand on the formation of government in Delhi,” Sh. Goel said.

Overwhelming response on “Run for Unity” organised by Delhi BJP

Thousands of Delhi'ites from all walks of life  participated in hugely successful  “Run for Unity” organised by Delhi BJP today as a part of the nationwide programme to commemorate the 63rd death anniversary of iron man of India Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel. Those who participated in the even in Delhi included BJP National President Sh. Rajnath Singh, Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Sh. Arun Jaitley, Delhi BJP President Sh. Vijay Goel and Leader of BJP legislative party in Delhi Assembly Dr. Harsh Vardhan.

The event was was held simultaneously at 1150 places all over the country. It is first of its kind event in terms of scale and level of participation of people.

Addressing the BJP cadres and participants at this event, BJP National President Sh. Rajnath Singh said, “Sh. Narendra Modi should be credited  for conceptualising and taking a lead in organising this programme  across the country. This is the world’s biggest youth programme.”

Sh Jaitley  said that this event will act as an inspiration to all of us  to build strong India. Sardar Patel had played a pivotal role in shaping the destiny of India and the BJP stands committed to fufill the dreams of Sardar Patel.

On this occasion, Delhi BJP President Sh. Vijay Goel said, “Run for Unity is the curtain raiser for the larger  movement known as “Statue of Unity” movement. The idea is to reach out every corner of the country to spread Sardar Patel’s ideals and in Delhi, the BJP cadres left no stone unturned to make it a successful campaign.”

Sh. Goel said that BJP’s Prime Ministerial candidate Sh. Narendra Modi is from the same state of Gujarat   from where Sardar Patel came. Sh. Modi who has been championing the cause of nationalistic forces  provides a new ray of hope to the India.

“The enthusiasm and keen participation from Delhi’ites in the “Run for Unity” is a great encouraging sign. It also indicates that people want to support nationalistic forces and  favour a strong and determined leadership,” he added.

“We have paid a humble tribute to a great Indian leader who unified our country ,” said Sh. Goel. He said, the BJP cadres actively participated in this run in large numbers in addition to large number of common people.

BJP delegation to meet DERC to oppose move to hike power tariff

The Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party President Shri Vijay Goel today said that the BJP is opposed to the ongoing move to hike the power tariff in Delhi again. Shri Goel along with a delegation of the BJP leaders would soon meet the Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission Chairman tin this regard. The BJP will oppose any such move tooth and nail, said Shri Goel.

Shri Goel also informed that the BJP is all geared up for “Run for Unity”  to be held on 15 December  on the 63rd death anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the iron man of India who integrated 565 states. The Delhi BJP cadres will participate in large numbers in this event.

Meanwhile, on the issue of proposed power tariff hike Shri Goel said, “As a part of our positive agenda for development and good governance in Delhi, we have been in favour of reducing the power tariff by 30%. This what we promised in our manifesto also. The BJP strongly believes that it is time to go for a CAG audit of the accounts of discoms before allowing them even to move a proposal for any tariff hike.”

In the last two years there has been 72% hike in the power tariffs in Delhi which itself was unjustified. The BJP had opposed it but the Congress government allowed discoms to have this tariff hike affecting Delhi’ites severely. The people of Delhi gave a befitting reply to Congress in the recent assembly polls. As the Delhi BJP emerged as the first choice of voters, it is clear that they have approved of BJP’s demand of reduction in power tariff by 30%.

“But it seems the establishment of the day is still insisting on going for yet another tariff hike.

The BJP will not accept this move and will oppose it. The party demands that instead of the power tariff hike, there should be roll back of the power tariff.”

Shri Goel said, “The Delhi residents have been tired of the misrule of Congress. Now when they have routed Congress, BJP will continue to pursue with its positive agenda for development. For BJP, interests of Delhi residents are of utmost importance and the party remains committed to reduction of power tariff in Delhi by 30 per cent.”

BJP ready to provide constructive cooperation to AAP government : Vijay Goel

The Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party President Shri Vijay Goel today said that the BJP is ready to sit in opposition and provide constructive cooperation to an Aam Aadmi party government.

“The AAP had made many promises including two major promises of reducing power tariff by 50% and providing free water up to 700 litres per day. If AAP is really serious about fulfilling these promises then it should go ahead and form a government and BJP will provide whatever cooperation is required.  After all it has already celebrated its ‘victory’ at Jantar Mantar. Even Congress has clearly indicated that it will provide support to the AAP government. Then if it is really serious about fulfilling its promises, it should go ahead and do it.”

“If they do not form the government then it clear that the AAP was never serious about fulfilling these promises which were made with lot of fanfare,” he added.

“I hope that instead of giving moral lessons to others, the AAP now really gets down to fulfilling its promises.  The fact is that AAP has made several promises in a hurry jut to woo the voters. It still hasn’t made it clear that how it is going to implement them. In fact, with every passing day, the way AAP is trying to give different excuses exposes their intentions of making empty promises.”

Shri Goel said, “The BJP believes in providing constructive support to any initiative which serves the interest of Delhi. For us the interests of Delhi residents are above everything. We have been serving the people of Delhi and we would continue to do so.”

“While BJP has issued several detailed reports and has come out openly explaining the way it is going to implement its promises, the AAP has adopted a negative agenda. Instead of criticising all others, it should adopt a positive agenda as people of Delhi want a positive agenda.”
